On February 21st, 2024, Vector experienced a significant moment of personal growth centered around the theme of inclusion.

During this encounter, Vector had the opportunity to meet Giorgia Testa, the president of the association “LA MUSICA DEL CUORE” (The Music of the Heart). This organization aims to assist individuals with heart conditions beyond the hospital setting. It focuses on self-acceptance, body positivity, and embracing the scars left by surgeries. Additionally, it promotes a culture of self-love and stands against bullying. Unfortunately, the situation is particularly challenging for females who constantly grapple with often unattainable beauty standards imposed by society.

Giorgia, along with her mother Cristina, shared her personal journey marked by numerous surgical interventions to correct heart malformations — some of which occurred just days after her birth.

Throughout their storytelling, both Giorgia and Cristina evoked moments of deep emotion, touching not only the narrators but also the collaborators from Vector who attended the event (which was open to family and friends).
Their words revealed remarkable tenacity and a genuine zest for life. Particularly moving was Giorgia’s revelation that her association is dedicated to Leonardo, a 15-year-old boy who passed away due to a congenital heart condition.

Having studied in the United States for several years, Giorgia recounted her encounters with cardiac patients in that country and the challenges they face in accessing medical care.

She expressed: “If I were wealthy, I would love to fund surgeries for those under eighteen who cannot afford them. While I may not be rich, I can at least share their stories.”

Giorgia’s artistic talents span singing, writing, acting, photography, and creation. Her multifaceted artistry plays a crucial role in her association’s work.

Giorgia is currently involved in two photographic projects that contribute to her ongoing battle for acceptance and understanding. Acceptance of one’s own scars is a crucial journey. Giorgia Testa, through her association “La Musica del Cuore” (The Music of the Heart), has embarked on two powerful photographic projects:
ORO” (Gold): Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of “Kintsugi”, which believes that when a broken object is repaired with gold, it gains greater value than its original form. In this project, individuals are photographed with their scars painted in gold, symbolizing their resilience and newfound beauty.
FIORI” (Flowers): Here, scars are juxtaposed with flowers. Accepting one’s scars is the first step toward blossoming as a person.

Giorgia emphasized the pivotal role parents play in such situations. When you’re a parent of someone with an illness or disability, that role never truly ends.

She concluded the event by singing a self-written English song, urging people never to give up and reminding them that life is lived for oneself, not according to others’ expectations.

Please stop telling me That I’m good at everything and I can’t even make a mistake Please start listening Stop saying that you wanna be me ‘Cause you don’t know what it means, yeah you don’t know what it means
